Circumstances can change through worldly knowledge (ignorance of the self, the Soul) and also through (true) knowledge (realization of the self). With ignorance, circumstances will bring entanglements and with (true) knowledge, circumstances will bring solutions. (True) Knowledge itself changes circumstances. Is God likely to come down and do so?

About This Quote

The Mahabharata: Book 2: Mahabharata: Book 2: Chapter 7: Circumstances can change through worldly knowledge (ignorance of the self, the Soul) and also through (true) knowledge (realization of the self). With ignorance, circumstances will bring entanglements and with (true) knowledge, circumstances will bring solutions. (True) Knowledge itself changes circumstances. Is God likely to come down and do so? - When people are caught up in themselves they are very unlikely to see beyond themselves.

They tend to be very concerned with their own lives, their own needs. When people are caught up in their thoughts they cannot see or understand what is happening around them. This is due to the fact that they do not understand the connection between what is happening in their lives and what is happening in the lives of others.

When people are caught up in ignorance, ignorance itself becomes this great force that keeps everything in check. Ignorance keeps things moving but all is not well in this situation because ignorance is not real knowledge. Ignorance is not real knowledge, it is just an opinion; it is only an idea that has only been formed in our minds based on our previous experiences.

It is based on our previous experiences that we form opinions about things like good and bad or right and wrong. For example when someone does something wrong then we form an opinion about that person or when someone does something good then we form an opinion about that person. We have formed opinions about things without ever understanding what good or bad actually means because of our lack of understanding of our true nature.

We do not know what really matters so we form opinions about things based on what we think matters instead of what really matters. When people are caught up in ignorance they are not able to understand how their actions have any impact on others. If someone does something good then they do it for themselves because they would want to feel better about themselves, therefore they do it for themselves without considering the effect of the action on others around them.
